Project overview
Alif is more than just an app. The Alif ecosystem includes installment plans, a payment card, business tools, education, shopping, investment and travel services. You can transfer money, pay bills, buy goods with delivery or pay in installments. For businesses, Alif provides merchant acquiring with transparent terms. There are also educational courses, investment products structured according to Islamic finance principles, and international services.
Process
Technical Constraints Analysis
My process began with a Technical Constraints Analysis. From this analysis, I understood that at this stage it was not possible to create customizable installment breakdowns - users would purchase products with pre-defined installment plans for 3, 5, or 12 months. It was also important to maintain consistency within the existing design system.
User Interviews
From the interviews, I discovered that users are highly skeptical of installment plans.
As a result, we created a clean, calm, and straightforward interface with minimal graphics.
80% of respondents expressed concerns about being burdened with high interest rates or having their data fall into the hands of scammers.
Therefore, in the main block, we emphasize the amount, number of payments, and especially highlight the zero interest rate.
Main Challenge
The internal design team was at an impasse. They couldn't create a design for the installment payment page because there were no similar products in the market at that time.
The team needed guidance on the best approach for designing the installment feature.
Also, as one of the first installment systems in the market, we needed to create a design that inspires trust.
Result
The design team was able to implement the new design within 1 week.
After almost a year, the team integrated the installment feature into almost all products.
Today, 70% of Alif users utilize the Alif installment service.
